Nepal Tourism Board to promote Nepal on CNN, BBC World

Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has made policy to promote the tourism of Nepal through the advertisement through CNN International and BBC World to attract a large number of tourist to visit Nepal. In the present context of less tourist visiting Nepal, this kinds of steps and policies would be a milestone for the Nepal Tourism to get back to its own original way.

According to Deeepak Raj Joshi, CEO of NTB, they have been on the process of promoting Nepal through the television channels and for this budget have been finalized. The number of tourist visiting Nepal last year dropped by 31.78 percent as compared to the 2014 figure and Nepal Tourism hopes to get the million tourist by the 2020 as the Government has announced 2020 as the Visit Nepal Year.

2020 to be observed as Visit Nepal Year


The Government of Nepal has announced 2020 as the "Visit Nepal Year" with a target of welcoming about million tourist in the nation.

During the 2-3 years, the tourism has been interrupted due to the natural calamities like Hud Hud hurricane in Annapurna Region, Blizzard in Everest Base Camp and Massive Earthquake in April, 2015. Due to these reasons, the arrivals of tourist has been decreased but with the announcement of 2073 BS as the local Ghumphir Barsa and 2018 AD as the Visit Nepal Year, the tourism professionals have hope to regain the tourism in its original state.

The government will launch different promotional programs to make successful program as Visit Nepal Year 2020.

"Birthplace of Lord Buddha -- Lumbini, Kechana - country's lowest point, and Damak, where the world's tallest Buddha statue will be built, will be linked with the International Buddhist Circuit," the document reads.
